Shooting a short film does not mean that you do not have money and because of this reason you have to shot a short film instead of a long one. There are bitty short films which are shot according to the wishes of a productor, so a short film director is the only owner of his or her film from it's synopsis level to it's production. He or she writes his or her own screenplay, calculate the budget, and shoots the film. For this reason we can say that a short film is an individual and emotional work. It's a story presented from it's director's inner feelings and life. This results in the independence of theme, so a short film director can operate a theme according to his or her own feelings without giving any explanation to anyone, can say what ever he or she wants, can use any camera action without any limitation.

In addition to these the short film keeps its importance as a widespread production area in which different camera actions, actor styles, themes, striking sound effects etc. can be experienced. Therefore short film has a pioneer role in developing new styles, genres of the cinema.

The most discussed questions about the short film are whether the short film is a step to long lenght film or the short film is completely a different genre with its own narration styles. In guidance of these discussions, it is clear that "short film" is the answer for both of the questions because we see that the early works of the master directors of cinema are short films, so we can say that short film is an experimental area for the directors, who wants to shot long lenght films, to see themselves, their skills and to experiment new narration styles. On the other hand, there are directors who think that shooting a film is shooting a film and do not think it is long or short. They create intelligent, striking examples on the short film area. So we can say that a short film has all the dynamics of the 7th art, Cinema, and needs energy as much as a long lenght film. A short film expresses many things freely in itself with its limited duration. At these years of our modern age, thanks to the increasing number of the short film festivals, short film finds its widespread audiences and take the role of being a pioneer of the Cinema.

Short films do not show at television. Short film DVDs are not sold. They are not showed at Cinemas. Their only projection place is the Festivals and this gives an "underground culture" identitiy to the short films. This identity may be changed after the next coming years, but this identity of being "underground" gives the chance to the "short film" to keep its attractive, pure and independent structure alive.

Lastly, I can say that, you have to be cool, patient, systematic while you are planning to shot a short film. You have to develop your screenplay step by step and write all the deatails of your film. Otherwise, being impatient may cause you not to be succesfull.
